COLOR IN MY CHEEKS

Greetings! I'm writing this post from inside the spray booth. I've got the El Camino all sanded, masked, cleaned and ready to shoot. I've already been at it for about three days but keep having small hold-ups. These hold-ups are in the form of small dents or imperfections in the body that I discovered during my final wet sending. I just finished correcting the last one, I believe. I'll only know for sure when I roll the finished product out into the sun.
I decided to use a metallic Orange that I saw on a 2004 Nissan 350Z here in town one sunny afternoon. As I drove by a small, independent car lot the little 350Z stood out so remarkably that it made the decision for me. It's code A17 and the price for the paint & reducer was nearly $400! I asked the auto/paint store manager for 10% off since I was painting my own car rather than one for profit. A couple of days later he got back to me with a denial. Oh well, I have to have it. However, I may drive to Yakima  or Kennewick the next time I need a high-dollar component. Maybe I'll check eBay or Craigslist. In my experience, a 10% discount of about $38 would have bought my loyalty for years to come, resulting in much greater earnings for the store.

I'm such a whiner!

Time to spray the stripe color. More later.

Doug
