COSMETIC SURGERY

Greetings!
The wind blew today like it was angry! I'm reminded of how fortunate I am to have a shop with proper lighting and temperature control. Not to mention the great tunes on the iPhone through my shop sound system. I took an unused subwoofer that had been languishing in the house and hooked it up to the little stereo in the secret lab, and complaints have been fewer as a result.

I discovered some rust areas around the wheel wells and ordered some replacement panels that arrived during the week. I carefully cut out the worst of the areas and have begun to replace the rotted sheet metal. A closeup shows the rust inside the fender, that has since been properly treated to arrest it. This method of replacement gives the longest life to the panel, rather than filling the rust holes with bondo as the previous bodyman did. That method will come back to haunt you.
I also touched up the orange paint on the cylinder heads and replaced the lower radiator hose. The previous hose was a universal flex hose that can get the job done, but doesn't look as good as the stock hose. I ordered the stock hose from one of the auto parts stores in town and it arrived the next day. There was no reasonable excuse for not replacing it while I was working in the engine bay. I plan to re-arrange some of the battery wiring and then we'll be done under the hood. This old Classic deserves the best!

Doug
